Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and Keio University will host the twelfth annual Empirical Investigations in Trade and Investment (EITI) Conference. Economists specializing in empirical economic research on issues relating to international trade and investment from North America, Europe, and Asia will present their latest research at this meeting.

The conference is open to other attendees whose papers are not on the program. There is no entry fee, but space is limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis for those not on the program. If you plan to attend but not to present a paper, please follow the registration link below.

Featured Participants:
Andrew Bernard, Dartmouth College

Conference Format: The conference will begin in the morning on Thursday and will continue through the following Saturday at noon. The program will include a total of 15 papers, with one hour per paper devoted to presentation, discussant remarks, and open discussion.

All participants are expected to attend all sessions on the three days of the conference.

Travel Funding:
  • The conference budget is fairly generous. We certainly have the funds to cover travel expenses of those presenting papers and will likely have sufficient funding to cover some of the expenses of discussants as well.
  • Note: We will be reimbursing discount economy class air fare and 4 nights of lodging at the conference hotel.

  • Deadline: December 15, 2017. Selections will be made and authors notified by January 5. A final conference schedule will be posted on the conference website by January 25, 2018.
  • Please submit only completed or nearly completed papers. Given the volume of submissions in past years, abstract only submissions are not typically accepted.
  • Papers should be submitted electronically, in PDF format, through the following link:
