The University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics will host the Tenth Annual LETC conference in Izola, Slovenia. This is a sister conference to EIIT, which takes place in the Fall of each year in North America and EITI this March in Japan. Economists specializing in empirical international economics will present their latest research at this meeting. These conferences are offered under the rubric of the Forum for Research on Empirical International Trade (www.FREIT.org).

The conference is open to other attendees whose papers are not on the program. There is no entry fee, but space is limited and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis for those not on the program. Please let us know if you will be attending and if you would be willing to serve as a discussant.

Conference Format: The conference will begin in the morning on Thursday and will continue through mid day on Saturday. The program will include a total of 15 papers, with one hour per paper devoted to presentation, discussant remarks, and open discussion. The usual allocation of time is 40 minutes for the presentation, 10 minutes for the discussant, and 10 minutes for open discussion.

Preliminary Program

(Links to papers will be embedded in the Program.)
(If the link fails, we do not have the paper.)

Travel Funding:
  • As we have done in the past, we are offering a reimbursement of expenses for 2 presenters traveling from the United States.
  • Note: We will be reimbursing discount economy class air fare and 3 nights of lodging at the conference hotel.
Other Information:
  • All meals will be covered by the conference sponsors (lunches and dinners).
  • For those able to stick around, there will be a boat trip out on the water for swimming and a fish picnic. (We've done this before and it is quite fun!)
Special invitation to graduate students: We have a special competition for graduate student participants from the EU. We will pay up to €500 in expenses for a graduate student to present their paper. The graduate student papers not selected will be put in with the general submissions for further consideration.

Submissions:
  • Deadline: March 31, 2014. The submission deadline has passed. No more submissions will be accepted. Selections will be made and authors notified by April 15.
  • A final conference schedule will be posted on the conference website by April 30.

Conference Registration:
  • Please notify us if you would like to attend and/or would be willing to serve as a discussant but are not submitting a paper.
  • If you have submitted a paper, you needn't also register. Your submission is your registration.
